One bright morning in late fall 2005 wehn I walked along the East River through Brooklyn Heights.
Watching the sun rise over Lake Michigan when spending a summer at Northwestern.

Oh, man. So many to choose from--but I guess I'll go with one inspired by you, Connor. It was one night when I lived in Andersonville, worked in Evanston, got up at 2 am and couldn't get back to sleep. One of the things I did was read your blog, and you had some long post about a long walk, and I decided I was going to walk to work. So I did. I think it was late February or early March. I walked through Edgewater, singing along with my iPod because no one was on the streets, then walked over to the actual water's edge and ran into many, many people walking their puppies. I did so much puppy-petting that I had to get on the train at Howard, or I would actually have been late to work.
I treasure the memory of an August morning at Camp TaPiCo boy scout camp in Michigan in the early 1960s. I got up, alone, at dawn, crawled under a bush by the lake and watched the loons diving for fish as the sun rose to their haunting calls.
