The 27th Summersdawn: Volume 1

DIARY

Before I could go for a walk from Chicago to Joliet along former Route 66, I had to get from work to 66.
A 2 mile walk, approximately.

I took some pictures.

Call this the "prewalk."

PREWALK

Where I work.

The third tallest hospital in the world; tallest in the Western Hemisphere.

Looking west from the Lake Shore Drive bridge across the Chicago River.
The shoreline you're looking at (left) is a neighborhood built from scratch in the last five years called the "East Side." A bit unfair, because there's already an "East Side" in Chicago; the hood by the lake from 95th and 118th, dominated by the crumbling rust heaps of Wisconsin Steel.

I like the portholes on the upper floors of the new residential buildings (right).

Chicago harbor (left).
Aimed at Navy Pier (right).

I like to see popular landmarks from unpopular vantage points.
Here is the Chicago skyline, including the Sears Tower (center) and the Aon Center (right) as seen from the path alongside an entrance ramp to Lake Shore Drive.

Preparations for the Taste of Chicago festival.

Neolithic standing stones in Great Britain (left).
Neoneo standing stones in Chicago (right).
