Happy Benjamin Franklin Day

EVENT

Dear President Bush,

As you may know, Benjamin Franklin, one of our founding fathers, was born on this date in the year 1706. He was a brilliant scientist, a savvy entrepreneur, and an invested civic leader. He also had a warm familiarity with associates I think you'd admire.

With this in mind, I'd like to offer up a bit of wisdom offered up by Benjamin Franklin. If you listen carefully, you might see some points of connection from two hundred years away.

Sincerely,

Connor Coyne

as follows:

There is no little enemy.

Those who would give up essential Liberty
to purchase a little temporary Safety,
deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Don't throw stones at your neighbors
if your own windows are glass.

There never was a good war or a bad peace.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
