Hallowe'en

BODY

The image is William Blake's interpretation of Dante's Hell. If we wish to, we may consider the triumverate of Hallowe'en, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day, as devoted to hell, heaven, and purgatory, respectively.

I wish I could have posted on this yesterday, but a combination of work and exhaustion got in the way. At night however, I was chilled by the extent of Percy Shelley's oculareolaphobia (the fear that, upon seeing someone undress, one will discover eyes where her nipples belong).

Take a break and read Polidori's The Vampyre, which supposedly inspired this fear. Mary always was the bright one...

END OF POST.
