CONCEPT

COMMENTS:
- The short version of the last week and a half. The weekend before last involved the planning of the road trip. Not much I can say about that. Last week involved drama at work (I quit briefly, and then reinstated myself), and in other areas, and lots of work on scav hunt... on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I believe. On Friday, Jess came over, and I fixed us a chicken dinner along with Sam. Getting a handle on chicken is my current cooking project. Jess and I had originally planned on going out to a Blues club, then staying in and watching Blair Witch Project. In the end, we sat around, talking about scavhunt for about two hours. On Saturday, my parents visited, to drop off Jess' wedding dress and have a picnic lunch at my place. Afterwards, we drove down to Hyde Park for the Meet the Captains party. We played kickball (dividing into the "hots" and the "nots"... Jess and I were both "nots," but then, we won)! Back at Court's we barbecued and talked around, then walked down to Cobb for the Animate Concert. From there on out, it was random party crashing until after 2 AM. We constituted a party at Snell and crashed a party at Palevsky, and divided to conquer parties with the Vegans and the Animate after party. Sunday I was bad, and missed church. But I did meet with a couple judges to go over some important points, before returning home to work on my FAFSA and my (very late) IL income tax.
- This is really an unreasonably abbreviated version. (I'm sure you object). If I'm able, I'd like to recap in more detail later. But we'll see. There's always less and less time at this time of year.
- According to AccuWeather, it's cool then warm this week. As has happened so often this year, the jet stream's been drawn unexpectedly south, exposing the midwest to cold, Canadian air. But later, a high pressure bubble will rise to the south of Chicago, allowing things to warm up.
- This forecast is consistant with the perennial "scav forecast," which typically predicts with 91% reliability. The Scav Forecast calls for mild temperatures and a clear sky on Wednesday, an increase in heat to a barely-uncomfortable level by Friday evening, a sudden plunge Friday night, torrents of rain all day Saturday, a muddy Sunday morning, and finally, a dreary and dispirited Sunday night. But Monday, the sun should start shining again.
- According to Adler Planetarium, there are four planets to be viewed this month: At twilight, Jupiter will move from the southeast horizon tonight (the 2nd) through the high south (the end). Saturn is also visible in the evening, high in the west. Both of these planets will set in the early morning, at 4:30 and 1:00, respectively. Mars, on the other hand, will rise in the east-southeast before dawn, and will be visible until it gets too bright. Venus will be close to the sun, and thus hazy and dim. It may in visible in the west-northwest just after sunset. And Mercury, as Adler points out, just cannot outshine the sun my friends.
